British Athletics League Division 3, Match 3 – Kingston 13th Aug 2011

As rock band Faith No More sang in their hit ‘We Care A Lot’ – “Oh,It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it” and so the three pronged attack of Matt Allison,Steve Linsell & Dan Cheeseman ventured South to take on the pretty much full strength teams of BAL Division 3.
We enjoyed ourselves anyway and that’s what it’s all about.

Matt stretched his legs in the 100m,coasting to 15.19s for last in the A race and in the 400m,ran a pretty decent 64.02 in the same position.
Dan Cheeseman lead the 1500m for most of the race and just lost out on a top three finish in the home straight, finishing 4th in 4.01.38.
In the field,Matt was 8th in the hammer with 27.33m,a touch down on his throw at Crawley.
Our best position of the day came though Matt in the A javelin, finishing 3rd in the A with 53.66m,Steve Linsell getting a point in the B with 26.71m.
In the shot,Matt was 7th in the A with 11.33,Steve Linsell eventually registering a putt in the 3rd round.after two huge fouls (actually, the first was through not walking out of the back of the circle and the second, not keeping the shot in contact with the neck at release),finishing last with 8.04m.
With no run-up to speak of,Steve stuttered up to the board and registered a long ? jump of 4.92m,before retiring, placing a distant last in the A.
In the triple jump,Steve actually beat someone in the A string, finishing 7th with 11.15m.
Even in the high jump,a 2nd attempt clearance at 1.75m was only good enough for 6th place in the A.

Final score – Glasgow 379 Kingston 367 Channel Islands 320 Swansea 286 Havering 265 Yeovil 241.5 Cambridge 169 Leeds City 66.5
