England Athletics Combined Events Championships – Bedford 4/5th June 2011

In the U20 Women’s event 2010 Silver medallist Katy Marchant was just 32 point off her pb and picked up Silver once more behind runaway winner Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
In the 100m hurdles,Katy was 2nd quickest,running a season’s best 14.81s (-0.4m/s) and in the high jump was close to her pb with 1.64m.
Katy was easily the best shot putter on show,even though an 11.14m putt was a little down on her season’s best.
She ended day one in 2nd position after another season’s best in the 200m with 26.93s (+0.1m/s).
The long jump was the first event on day two and Katy was close to her pb with a season’s best of 5.21m.
In her first javelin throw of the year,Katy was in fine form with 35.51m and finished with a pb 2.30.18 in the 800m for a total of 4861.

Amy Marchant set a new pb in the Senior Women’s event finishing 7th and Jenny Lumley completed her first Heptathlon since 2007 placing 9th.
Amy started with a windy season’s best 15.20s (+3.0m/s) in the 100m hurdles,followed by a 1.64m high jump and wasn’t far off her best in the shot with an 11.75m putt.
To round off the first day,she ran a big season’s best in the 200m,not far off her pb with 27.00s (+1.1m/s).
On day two,Amy jumped a disappointing 4.95m in the long jump,but threw the 4th best distance in the javelin with 34.16m.
In the last event,the 800m,Amy ran one of her best times with 2.33.19 for a final score of 4710.
Jenny ran a season’s best 15.63 (-0.2m/s) in the 100m hurdles,high jumped 1.64m and was close to her best in the shot with 10.98m.
In her first 200m race of the season,Jenny ran the exact same time as Amy 27.00 (+0.5m/s).
On day two,she was a little down on her season’s best in the long jump,registering a best of 5.15m,after a first round no-jump.
In the javelin Jenny threw a season’s best 34.28m which was the 3rd best distance of the day and finished off with 2.46.97 in the 800m for a total of 4501.
