England Athletics U15/U17 Championships – Bedford 20-21st Aug 2011

Caoimhe Crampton was 5th in her heat of the U15 Girls 75m hurdles with 12.16s (+1.8m/s),with just the first 2 from the 3 heats and 2 fastest losers making the final.
In the U15 Boys discus,George Armstrong in his first year in the age group, improved his pb dramatically to claim Bronze.
He achieved this with a staggering increase of over 4m to his pb with 42.23m,but amazingly it doesn’t improve his 6th position on the all time list, but does elevate him to 5th on the Power of Ten rankings for the season.
Ben Buckley and Jacob Fincham-Dukes progressed safely through their respective heats of the U15 Boys 80m hurdles,Jacob qualifying 3rd in 11.67s (+1.0m/s) and Ben 2nd in his heat with 11.43s(+0.1m/s).
Both lads improved in the final,Ben claiming Bronze with 11.41s,a whisker outside his club record and Jacob in 5th with 11.62s (+0.6m/s),just outside his best of 11.60s.
Jacob had an excellent weekend and was very unlucky to miss out on a medal, especially in the long jump, where he added 3cm to his pb with 6.04m (+1.1m/s),but finished in 4th place, just 8cm behind 3rd.
In the triple jump,Jacob went over 12m for the first time with 12.06m (+0.6m/s) in 5th place, moving him up to 9th on the all time list.
After his recent run of well under 49.5s in the 400m,U17 Nick Petrou might have expected to progress from the heats, but was 4th in 50.70s with just the first two in each heat and two fastest losers to qualify.
Matt Campleman hasn’t been able to re-capture the form he showed in June, which saw him close to 6.50m,here he was 10th with 6.18m (+1.2m/s) in the U17 Men’s long jump.
