England Athletics U15/U17 Combined Events Championships – Stoke 13-14th Aug 2011

U15 Girls Hexathlon
Nicola Sawyer finished 12th overall (5th North) with 2345 points in this SIX event competition.
In the 75m hurdles,she ran 15.68 (+0.2m/s),then long jumped a best 4.03m (+1.0m/s) in an incredibly consistent series (4.03/4.01/4.00).
Nicola was just 1cm off her best in the high jump,with 1.29m and putt the shot pretty close to her best with 8.13m.
She threw the javelin 22.29m,that throw coming in the second round and finished the event with an 800m in 2.42.67.

U17 Women’s Heptathlon
Hannah Ukandu was 22nd with 3030 after failing to complete the 800m.
She ran 13.35s (0.0m/s) in the 80m hurdles and was well down on her best in the shot with a best putt of 8.36m.
In the high jump,Hannah cleared 1.38m and ran 29.01 (+2.1m/s) for the 200m to end day 1.
On day two,she started with a 4.73m (+2.1m/s) long jump,coming in the last round and very close to her best.
In the javelin,Hannah was again close to her best with a last round throw of 28.05m and then a DNF in the 800m.

U17 Men’s Decathlon
Matt Campleman was 5th overall (2nd North) with 5319 in his first Decathlon.
In the 100m,he ran a pb with 11.70s (+1.1m/s) and followed with a 5.96m (+1.6m/s) long jump.
A 2nd round best putt of 10.47m in the shot,saw him drop a place to 4th and a 1.68m high jump maintained that position.
Day 1 came to an end with an excellent pb performance in the 400m,with a time of 51.89s and 21st on the all time list.
On the 2nd day,Matt started well with a 14.88 (+0.3m/s) 100m hurdles,just outside his best,but then struggled in the discus,with a first round best of 19.82m.
In the pole vault,after failing the first attempt his opening height,he cleared 2nd go and then cleared everything first attempt up to and including a pb 3.01m,moving up to 27th on the all time list.
Another pb came in the javelin,as Matt improved by over 2.5m for a new best of 36.06m and in the 1500m he also ran a pb with 5.03.02,an improvement of more than 11s.
