England Athletics U20/U23 Championships – Bedford 25-26th June 2011

In the U20 800m, Sam Bucknall ran 1.58.10 in his heat, finishing in 5th place and in the U20 1500m, Michael Wood was 7th in his heat, running one of his best times with 3.57.57.
Tom Mosley equalled his season’s best in the heats of the U23 200m, running 22.25s (+0.6m/s) in 6th place.
In the Women’s equivalent, Kadeena Cox was unlucky not to progress from her heat, as Bolton’s Sion Pledger qualified from one of the other heats with exactly the same time of 25.74s.
Michael Salter won his heat of the U23 800m in 1.52.66 to qualify for the final, where he improved his time to 1.51.85, finishing in 5th place.
Dale Worton didn’t make it past the heats in the U23 1500m, finishing 11th in 4.07.93, but James Wilkinson struck Gold in the U23 3000m steeple chase final, winning with 8.51.67.
After running some quick times in the early part of the season, David Dempsey would have been looking to have at least got through the heats of the U23 400m hurdles, but could manage only 5th place in his heat with 55.18s.
Alice Simpson was in great form in the U23 hammer, throwing just shy of her pb & club record, finishing 5th with 52.55m
