BUCS Cross Country Championships – Gloucester, 6/2/16

Josh Woodcock Shaw was 43rd in the long race (10.2k) with 35.13 and Sean Flanagan 190th in the short race (7.3k) with 30.01.

 

 

West Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships – Northcliffe Park, 6/2/16

Some fine performances from our athletes today, with wins for Emile Cairess, 40 seconds clear in the U20 race (22.31) and Tommy Dawson 13 seconds ahead in the U15 race (12.07), even though he’s U13! In the same race, Joe Clancy was a fine 8th (13.23) and Eddie Hunter 25th (14.41).

Megan Driscoll was 25th in the U17 ladies race (18.02), Christina Walker 20th in the U15 race (12.52) and Michaela Robano 31st in the U13s (10.40).

 

 

U20 Indoor International – Cardiff, 7/2/16

Ossama Meslek ran a pb in the mile with 4.16.60 on his international debut, finishing third in the race, but winning the match for England, as the first two were a senior and a guest athlete.

 

 

Dewsbury 10k, 7/2/16

Jamil Parapia was just outside his best time for the distance, placing fourth with 31.37, Jason Cherriman venturing onto the roads for the first time in 2016, taking 8th place with 32.47. Trevor Clough was 3rd M55 (155th) in 39.32 and Celia De Maria 304th in 42.44.

 

 

Northern Athletics U13/U15 Indoor Championships – Sheffield EIS, 7/2/16

Kiikii Brown equalled her long jump pb with 4.52m in the U13 girls qualification and claimed a superb Silver medal in the final with a new best of 4.64m.

Kiikii places 4th on the All Time list, but in this kind of form, Alyssia Carr’s U13 Club Record of 4.86m could be under threat this season!!

Sam Clancy was our only other U13 athlete and ran 2.40.36 in his first race at 800m.

In the U15 events, Oliver Kitchingman was outstanding in three events, setting personal bests in each and claiming two medals.

He added 10cm’s to his long jump best, taking Silver with 5.40m and improved his pb from 11.27m to 11.80m in the shot for Bronze.

On the track Oli set a new best of 7.94s in his 60m heat (2nd place) and improved again with 7.89s in the semi (2nd place). He ran well again in the final, replicating his heat time and placing 7th in a quick race.

Megan Taylor was another taking on a trio of events and set a new pb in the shot with 8.38m. On the track, she ran the 800m, placing 6th in her heat with 3.04.11 and in her heat and semi final of the 60m hurdles clocked 10.48s and 10.67s respectively, a little outside her 10.2s at South Leeds last month.

Jacob Butterfield set a new pb with 26.36s, placing 3rd in his heat of the 200m and was just shy of that time in the semi-final with 26.41s in 5th.

Joseph Clancy improved his 800m pb by 2 seconds, clocking 2.21.22 in his heat and took another big chunk off in the final with 2.19.62 in 4th, a huge improvement from 2.23.26 before the event.

 

 

Steel Cup – Sheffield (EIS), 10/2/16

Georgia Yearby went 5th on the club All Time list in the 60m with 7.93s on her debut and also won the 400m with a season’s best and indoor pb of 56.37s.

In the field, Daphnee Disasi cleared 1.50m in the high jump and equalled her season’s best in the long jump with  4.83m.

Coming into some fine form ahead of this weekend’s combined events international in Spain, James Finney was close to his pb in the high jump with a nice 2.00m clearance and set new figures in the shot with 11.68m.

 

 

Wakefield Indoor Open Meeting – Thornes Park, 11/2/16

Morgan Williams ran 8.0s in both his U13 boys 50m races, set a new pb in the long jump with 3.89m and clocked 10.4s in the 50m hurdles.

Reuben Singh ran 6.6s in the U15 50m and went quicker in round 2 with 6.5s, winning both races.

 

 

Don Kirby Invitational – Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, 12/2/16

Jacob Fincham-Dukes equalled his season’s best in the long jump, placing 3rd with 7.36m.

 

 

Scottish Masters Indoor Championships – Emirates Arena, 13-14/2/16

Our amazing super-vet, 80 years young Tony Bowman, broke British M80 records in the 60m (9.39s), 200m (33.03s) and 60m hurdles (11.13s).

His hurdles time also broke the European Masters record that had stood since 2001 and was just 0.03s shy of the M80 World Record.

 

 

Mitja Marato de Barcelona – Barcelona Spain, 14/2/16

In her first foray onto the roads this year, Susan Partridge took over a minute off her own W35 club half marathon record with 74.27 (11th woman).

 

 

PECO Cross Country League – Temple Newsam, 14/2/16

In the lastest race of the series, Alison Varley was 18th in the ladies race (1st W45) with 37.19 and Fraser Corry placed 137th in the men’s race in 36.09.

 

 

Armagh International Road Race, 18/2/16

In the women’s 3k race, Claire Duck finished a very fine 11th place in a strong line up with 9.26.19, Leila Armoush 44th with 10.25.59.

Danny Davies was first Leeds City finisher in the men’s 5k race, placing 27th with 14.27.59, Carl Smith and Dominic Easter went sub-14.50, Carl 46th with 14.43.71 and Dominic 55th in 14.49.74.

 

 

Midland Counties Indoor Open – Birmingham, 20/2/16 

Julien Gittens (M50) gets about a bit and last Saturday competed at Birmingham, setting a season’s best 5.39m in the long jump and a less than satisfactory knowing him 11.55m in the triple.

 

 

Southern Counties Masters Championships – Lee Valley, 21/2/16

The following day, Julien was down at Lee Valley for a veterans competition, reversing his fortunes with a better triple jump of 11.60m and slightly shorter long jump of 5.29m.

 

 

International Combined Events Match – Salamanca (ESP), 20-21/2/16

James Finney was making his GB debut and made a fine start with a 7.23s pb in the 60m. Disaster struck in his next event, the long jump, when he slipped on the board and has ended up with suspected broken bones in his foot.

 

 

BUCS Indoor Championships – Sheffield (EIS), 19-21/2/16

Fi Campbell was 3rd in her heat of the 200m with 28.83s, Daphnee Disasi cleared 1.50m in her pool of high jump qualification and set a new pb of 5.00m in the long jump. Georgia Yearby eased through her heat of the 400m, winning in 57.07s and was unlucky not to make the final, placing 2nd in her semi with a new indoor best of 56.18s. Georgia also picked up a bronze medal as part of the 4x200m Leeds Met Uni women’s team.

 

 

Snakelane 10 – Pocklington, 21/2/16

Good running from our vets, led home by Trevor Clough in 91st (3rd M55) with 65.19, Julie Barley was 228th (2nd W50) in 72.15 and Chris Corcoran was 256th (3rd M60) in 73.34.

 

 

Brooks Serpentine Last Friday 5K – London Hyde Park, 26/2/16

Alistair Davy was the first M65 home in 23.31.

 

 

Big 12 Conference Indoor Championships – Ames, Iowa, USA, 26-27/2/16

Jacob Fincham-Dukes set an indoor season’s best long jump with an excellent 7.56m in 2nd place, just 4cm’s shy of his indoor pb.

 

 

English National Cross Country Championships – Castle Donington, 27/2/16

The highlights for Leeds City, were U13 Tommy Dawson (12.19) adding yet another title to his growing collection and Claire Duck (30.45) taking a fine 2nd place in the senior ladies race. In the same race, Leila Armoush was 125th (36.04), Amicia Lee 278th (40.02) and Sheryl Punter 282nd (40.06).

Emily Plimmer was 59th in the U13 girls race with 15.02, Poppy Cooke 94th in the U15 event (18.33), and Abby Holyoake 138th in 19.01.

Sean Flanagan was our only junior, placing 94th with 43.03.

The men were out of the medals for the first time in 13 years, finishing in 5th place.  Alan Buckley was first home in 36th (44.56), just ahead of Josh Woodcock-Shaw (45.00).  Dominic Easter was 45th (45.14), Michael Salter 93rd (46.31), Jason Cherriman (46.40) and Mike Burrett 118th in 47.01.

There was good back up from Adam Osborne 163rd (47.55), Alex Davy 168th (48.02), Martin Hilton 217th (49.02), Tom Edwards 295th (50.19), Leon Foster 324th (50.43), Martin Farran 657th (55.52) and Fraser Corry 1323rd (65.24).

 

 

British Indoor Championships – Sheffield (EIS), 27-28/2/16

Georgia Yearby took a huge chunk off her indoor best, clocking 55.58s in the heats of the 400m.

 

 

Inter-Area Veterans Match – Lee Valley, 28/2/16

Representing Northern Masters, Naana Adusei came within a whisker of Hazel Barker’s W35 60m record, clocking 8.38s in 2nd place. Naana also ran a season’s best of 28.42s in the 200m, finishing in 3rd place.

 

 

Kingston 10k – Kingston, 28/2/16

Danny Davies finished over two minutes ahead of 2nd place in his first 10k on the roads, clocking an excellent 31.08 out in front.

 

 

Coventry Half Marathon, Coventry, 28/2/16 

Darran Bilton was just shy of his club M50 record, placing 28th (ist M50) with 78.19.
