Katy Marchant had a great start in the 100m hurdles,equalling her pb with 14.42s and set a long awaited high jump pb with 1.68m,after being stuck on 1.65m for a few years,moving her up to 5th equal on the all time U20 list.
In the shot she set another best with a 1 cm improvement to 11.61m and wasn’t too far off her best in the 200m running a slightly windy 26.8 (+2.4m/s) and a cracking first day score of 3093 to lead the competition.
Day 2 started with a 5.19m long jump,close to her best,then a very good 35.15m javelin throw and to finish off,another pb in the 800m,breaking 2.30 for the first time with 2.28.13,for a final score and new pb of 4997,adding over 100 points to her previous best and placing her 2nd overall and 1st U20.
Amy Marchant started off with a legal season’s best 15.34s in the 100m hurdles,followed by another best this year with 1.68m in the high jump,her best height for a couple of years.
In the shot,Amy recorded an excellent pb,breaking the 12m barrier for the first time with 12.15m,moving her above Kirsty Parr into 4th place on the all time list.
To round off day 1,Amy ran 27.72s in the 200m for a first day total of 2926 and 4th place overall.
To start day 2,Amy long jumped 5.13m and went close to her best in the javelin with 33.90m,then finished off with 2.33.86 in the 800m,not far off her best,for a final score of 4717,a pb by 7 points and an overall 6th place finish.
Jenny Lumley started with 15.92s in the 100m hurdles,followed by a below par performance in the high jump with a 1.59m clearance.
A good shot followed with a 10.95m putt,just below her best and to finish day 1,she ran the 200m in 27.3s for a first day total of 2708 in 10th place.
On day 2,Jenny started with a pretty good long jump of 5.09m,then a season’s best javelin throw of 34.46m and an finished with an 800m in 2.36.14,a season’s best by over 10 seconds,for a final score of 4471 and 8th place.
