Leeds Schools Cross Country League – Saturday 3 March 2012 at The Grammar School at Leeds

It was mixed weather with periods of sunshine, gusty winds and driving rain on the bleak course at The Grammar School. For the last event of the season spectator numbers seemed to be up, there were large crowds following the runners around the course, however Pat Schofield told me competitor numbers were down!

LCAC runners represented their schools well and their results show it.

U13 Girls – Kimberley Eastwood has been stronger in previous races and this time came 13th.

U15 Boys – Another super race between our boys Dominic Peterson who came a wonderful first and not far behind Billy Dawson in 2nd, this was a great little race for the boys who after an initial settling of over enthusiastic 11 & 12 year olds led it most of the way. Billy and Dominic finished joint first in the league. Well done boys you must be really looking forward to track & field now.

U15 Girls, – Cleo Gorringe and Laura Benson set off well but by the time they got to the last hill it was a tough fight, Laura dug in and managed to come 4th, Cleo was hurting all the way to the top and came 6th. Although bottom age these girls have tried hard over the season and came 4th equal in the league. Well done.

U15 Boys – Sadly there was no Jack Allison today as he was injured but Dominic Owens and Kieran Savage put on a fine performance and it wasn’t until the latter part of the race that Dominic found ‘something’ which pushed him to the front. Coming over the line we had Dominic in first, Kieran in 2nd and Zach Widera in 3rd. The league results gave Kieran the lead in 1st, followed by Dominic in 2nd, Jack Allison in third and Zach Widera 5th. Well done boys, there is a lot of hard work to be done before you step up to U17 Men next season.
