ESAA Cross Country Championships – Woolaton Park, Nottingham, 5/3/16 

Some of our athletes represented West Yorkshire Schools at Nottingham on Saturday. Joe Clancy was 261st in the junior boys race, Poppy Cooke 142nd in the junior girls, Abby Holyoake 239th in the Inter girls and Emile Cairess a fine 10th place in the senior boys.



University of Leicester Open Meeting – Leicester, 5/3/16

Some very early outdoor competition took place in the Midlands, Fi Campbell setting a season’s best of 28.31s in the 200m and clocking 70.51s in the 400m.



Lightwater Valley 10k – North Stainley, 5/3/16

Trev Wilks finished a fine 4th in this multi terrain race, covering the distance in 37.31.



Sale Indoor Open, Sportcity, 6/3/16

Caoimhe Crampton ran her first 60m for a couple of years, clocking a very decent 8.22s to go 5th on the club U20 All-Time list.  U17 Rhea Southcott took 3 seconds off her 600m pb with 1.41.88 and cleared a season’s best 1.60m in the high jump.

U17 Tobi Sanni ran 7.64s and 7.65s in his two rounds of 60m heats and Reuben Singh was in excellent form, going 4th on the club U15 list with identical times of 7.54s in both of his heats. Reuben was also close to his pb inthe 200m with 25.22s.

U13 girls Amy and Katie Whyte were just outside the 9.0s they both ran at the Leeds indoor open, Katie with 9.03s and Amy 9.15s respectively.



South Yorkshire Series – Sheffield (EIS), 6/3/16

The latest in the series of South Yorkshire Indoor meetings took place at Sheffield on Sunday and a handful of our young athletes took part.

Aurora Brown ran her first 600m race, clocking 2.05.00 and equalled the U11 club record in the high jump with a 1.30m clearance.

U13 Kiikii Brown improved her 600m pb to 2.01.25, equalled her pb with 1.35m in the high jump and ran a new best in the 200m with 29.16s.

Sam Clancy was a few seconds down on his pb in the U13 600m with 1.54.41, but took over a second off his best in the 200m with 31.33s.

In the U15s, Christina Walker improved her 600m pb to 1.50.48s and Maisey Howson equalled her high jump best with a 1.50m clearance.

Joe Clancy made some big improvements on his previous bests, going 2nd on the club U15 600m list with a 3 second pb of 1.37.71 and just the 2 1/2 seconds in the 300m with 43.95s.

Jacob Butterfield was just outside his pb in the 300m with 43.49s and was looking set for a pb in the 200m, when he caught a spike and had a bad fall near the end of the race. Jacob bravely got up and crossed the line in 29.50s, nursing some nasty friction burns to the knees.



Northern Masters Cross Country Championships – Warrington, 6/3/16

Martin Farran was 11th overall and 2nd M50 with 40.25 for the 10k course.
