More tales of our younger harriers success!

Leeds Schools Cross Country (4) – Prince Henry’s Grammar School Saturday 21 January 2012.

Our young club runners turned out in force representing their respective schools and a very muddy course they had to contend with.
U13 Boys – Dominic Peterson & Billy Davison came 1st and 3rd respectively running well and showing the other boy’s just how it’s done!
U13 Girls – Cleo Gorringe & Laura Benson, albeit both a year young came 4th and 5th!
U15 Boys – Kieran Savage, never failing to amaze at the moment came 1st, shortly followed by Jack Allison in 2nd and then Dominic Owens in 4th!

West Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships – Hipperholme & Lightcliffe School – Saturday 4 February 2012

It was an extremely cold day and with snow forecast to come during the course of the races, there was a good turn out from our youngsters all wanting selection for the English Schools race in March to be held in Somerset with the promise of an overnight stay in a ‘hotel’!

Senior Boys’ – Gordon Benson was determined to do well, and having had what he called a ‘bad day ‘ at the Northern’s and finishing 2 places behind Holmfirth’s Max Kay!  The race was run quite steadily to start with and on the third lap Gordon went for it finishing 1st in front of Max by about 100 meters! Elliot Todd had started the race but did not finish due to re-occurring injury problems.
Intermediate Boys’ – To say all our LEEDS City Athletes in this event were a year young Kieran Savage did himself proud and made selection in a hard fought race where he came 5th. Sadly Jack Allison started well, but he too failed to finish due to injury problems and Zach Widera came a very good 21st!
Junior Girls’ – There was some good competition in this event and the distance not too easy for our girls, Laura Benson 24th , (who was knocked over when an official suddenly put out her arm to show her the way!) Kimberly Eastwood, (a year young in this one) 29th and Cleo Gorringe 34th all found it hard going but got around the difficult course.
Junior Boys’ – Dominic Peterson 9th and Billy Dawson 10th again a year young in this age group, gave it their all only just missing out on selection, they will hopefully find the experience was good for future events and especially this race next year

Well done to all our juniors!
