National Cross Country Champs at Alton Towers Saturday 19th February 2011.

Congratulations to the Senior Men on a fantastic win and setting the post war record of NINE top three finishes in a row including FIVE wins.

James Walsh led the team home in 4th place. Any body out there know when was the last time we had anybody placed so high?

Special mention to Simon Deakin in his first year as Team Manager and having been in all 9 nine teams has the individual record for most consecutive medals.

Martin Hilton has 8 medals and it is important to acknowledge Martin Roscoe, Greg Hull, Chris Burchall, Darren Bilton and Mike Burrett who have contributed to medal winning teams over the last 9 years and were there again competing on Saturday. It is that group of lads who have set the standards for our young athletes to follow.

If Saturday is anything to go by the young athletes are up for the challenge. Gordon ran an extremely brave race to finish 4th in the U17 and the under 20 men were 5th team led home by Danny Davis in 22nd place.

The senior ladies finished 13th overall led home by Emily Birchall in 74th place and Sarah Peterson 80th.
