North of England League Div 2WC Round 2 – Cleckheaton 4th June 2011

With a pretty decent men’s team,but only 5 ladies taking part we finished last of the 6 teams,but there were some very good performances.

Ricardo Brown scored an excellent 100/200m double,clocking 10.9s & 22.4s respectively and making an impact on the all time lists for both.
In the B 100m Simon Higgins was 2nd with 11.5s and ran the B 400m,finishing 4th with 58.5s.
James Murzai was 4th in B 200m with 26.0s and 6th in the A 400m with 58.4s.
Nick Hooker and Michael Wood cleaned up in the middle distance races,Nick taking the A 800m in 1.59.1 and B 1500m in 4.05.3 with Michael taking the B 800m in 2.03.3 and the A 1500m in 4.00.6.
Martin Gostling ran his first 5000m on the track for a few years,taking the A race in 15.35.2 and in the B Trevor Wilks was 4th with 16.45.4.
Tom Roberts took 2nd place in the 400m hurdles with 59.2s behind the very quick Oliver Robinson for Burnley.
In the field,Matt Barton was 4th in the A discus with 28.44m,8th in the A shot with 8.62m and was the class act in the triple jump with a dominant display,winning the A string with 15.00m.
In the B,Bradley Robinson took 2nd place with 11.42m and partnered Tom Lindsay in the long jump,winning the B string with 5.44m.
Tom was 3rd in the A with a season’s best 6.09m and competing in the high jump for the first time this year,won the B with a decent 1.75m.
James Heaton was an easy winner of the A with a 1.90m clearance and looks to be in shape to challenge his 2.00m pb after jumping well at the inter counties recently.
Ivan and Tom Roberts picked up points in the hammer with 14.90m and 11.57m respectively and in the 4x100m relay,Bradley,James M,Simon & Ricardo were 4th in 47.8s.
The combined events meeting at Bedford and the UK Women’s League clashes mean’t that we could only muster a team of five ladies,but they produced some good performances.
In the 1500m,Jodie Gregorczyk was 2nd in the A with 5.17.3 and 3rd in the A 3000m with a pb 10.25.3,knocking an amazing minute and a half off her previous best and placing just behind Lorna Young in the all time list.Jodie also chipped in with an 11.09m throw in the javelin
After not competing for a few years,Ros Evenden picked up points in the discus,finishing 6th with 17.16m and hammer,in 4th with 19.61.
Alana Walker (F37) was 3rd in the B discus with 16.67m and 6th in the B shot with 5.30m.
Kirsty Parr posted four season’s bests,with 2nd place in the high jump (1.50m),winning the A long jump with 5.20m,2nd in the shot with 11.03m and winning the A triple jump with 10.34m.

Final score – Bingley 391.5 Bolton 367.5 E. Ches 345 Spen 273 Burnley 259 Leeds City 243

This now leaves us in 4th place in the league on the same points as 3rd place East Cheshire.
