North of England Track & Field League, Div 2WC, Match 3 – Blackburn 3rd July 2011

A small contingent from the club went to Blackburn, not surprisingly finishing last of the 6 competing teams.
In the middle distances, James Walsh ran the A string 800m, coming away with a pb of 1.59.2 in 2nd place.
Sam Bucknall hardly broke sweat in the B race, running well within himself and coasting to victory in 2.06.5.
The two paired up again for the 1500m, James winning the A in 3.55.8 and Sam taking the B in 3.58.7.
In the 5000m, Alan Buckley broke 15 minutes, winning the A race in a season’s best 14.57.5 and Martin Gostling took the B with 15.06.2, also a season’s best time.
Tom Lindsay was 2nd in the 110m hurdles in 17.8s and partnered Sam Allen in the javelin, throwing 38.86m for a B string 2nd place, Sam taking the A with a fine 56.45m throw.
In the shot, ex-Leeds City athlete Ian Lindley won the A from Sam, who putt a pb 11.64m, with Julien Gittens 5th in the B with 6.92m.
Tom was 2nd in the A long jump, equalling his season’s best with a leap of 6.09m and Julien 4th in a very close B competition with 5.32m.
Julien took 3rd place in the A triple jump with 11.78m and Tom 2nd in the B with 11.06m.
In the high jump, Tom was in good form, clearing a season’s best of 1.80m in 3rd place.

Melody Peterson was 6th in the A 100m in an equal pb of 13.9s and Katy Ward 5th in the B with 14.2s for a new best.
In the 800m, Jodie Gregorczyk was 5th in the A 800m with 2.42.3 and Ellie Dooley 3rd in the B with a pb 2.43.2.
The two also ran the 1500m, Jodie in 5.43.5 for 5th place in the A and Ellie 5.44.9 and 3rd in the B.
Amena Abdelaziz added 2 metres to her best with a throw of 17.86m in the discus for 4th in the A and Grace Coburn a pb 16.73m for 4th in the B.
In the javelin, Amena was 5th in the A with a pb 20.97m, moving up 3 places to 19th on the U17 all time list and Grace 5th in the B with 13.65m on her javelin debut.
Our lone shot putter, Ashley Kingsnorth landed the ball a best of 5.92m for 6th place in the A.
Melody was 3rd in the A long jump with 4.19m and Katy 3rd in the B with 4.14m and in the triple jump, both girls were down on their respective bests, Katy with 9.01m in the A for 5th and Melody 8.91m for 3rd in the B.
The 4x100m young quartet of Katy, Amena, Melody & Grace ran 54.7s in 4th place.
