U15 Girls Pentathlon
Nicola Sawyer finished a good 7th in a big field of 21 competitors with a score of 1920 points,going 28th on the all time list.
She started with 3.89m in the long jump,then for the 2nd time this season ran 15.68s for the 75m hurdles (she’s also ran 15.69s).
In the shot,Nicola was the best on show,with a 7.98 effort,the consolidated her position with a 1.26m high jump and finished off with 2.44.54 for the 800m.
 
U17 Men’s Octathlon
Connor Morley was 5th with a season’s best 3383 points.
He started with a decent 5.55m long jump to lead after the first event,but dropped back to 4th after 20.29m in the discus,just short of his best.
There were a couple of 50m+ javelin throwers,so with 24.26m,Connor lost further ground on the leaders.
A 400m of 58.92s kept him in 5th place,as did his 16.32s 100m hurdles time,both efforts close to his best.
After a disappointing high jump of 1.62m,Connor dropped back to 6th place,but moved back to 5th with an 8.85m shot.
Connor was one of the better 1500m runners and held onto 5th place overall with a pb 5.12.74,finishing 30 points ahead of 6th place and just 31 behind 4th in the final standings.
 
U20 Women’s Heptathlon
Katy Marchant was in a class of her own,winning by a huge 1742 points with an excellent 4884.
She lead all the way,starting with a fine 14.64s in the 100m hurdles,followed by a very nice 1.68m in the high jump.
She threw 10.80m in the shot,then ran 27.23s for the 200m for a first day total of 2995.
In the long jump,Katy was well over 5m with a pb of 5.29m,then threw 33.40m in the javelin.
Another performance close to her best came in the last event of the day,the 800m with 2.28.81.
 
Senior Women’s Heptathlon 
Jenny Lumley posted a season’s best 4560 points to win as her main rivals faltered.
She started with 16.02s in the 100m hurdles,followed by a good high jump of 1.65m.
A 10.97m shot putt was better than anyone else and a 200m of 27.33s left her in 3rd place with 2785 at the end of day one.
For the 3rd time this season,Jenny leapt 5.15m in the long jump and followed it with a 34.35m javelin throw,close to her season’s best.
At this point,Jess Taylor who was leading & Carla Drew in third,decided to withdraw and Jenny finished day 2 with 2.36.37 in the 800m,close to her season’s best.
 
Amy Marchant contested just three events before pulling out of the competition.
She started with 15.65s in the 100m hurdles,followed by a 1.62m high jump.
A 10.94m shot was over a metre down on her best and at this point,she retired.
