Northern Cross Country Championships- Juniors

Firstly sorry for such a late posting of the Northern Cross Country junior races.

It was a lovely day at Pontefract race course although the trek from the car park to the course was a bit longer than anticipated it was a good warm up for the runners.

A change to the usual running order kept me on my toes with the under 17s off first. Elliot Holt in only his second ever race put in another fantastic performance completing the course in 22.50 coming home in 76th. A brilliant effort, I cant wait to see what he does next season.

Next up the under 13 boys. First home was Dominic Peterson running the race of his life to finish in 10th position and a super fast time of 11.43! (not sure the official recovery food after a race is doughnuts and chips tho Dom!!) Billy ran a great race finishing in 59th  in 12.35, although Billy was not impressed with his performance in this race he has done us proud all this season and also qualifying for the Yorkshire team. Keep training hard boys and the results will come.

Next the lovely Laura in the under 15 girls. Laura has been an absolute trouper this season the only girl in her age group and the only girl across all ages at most races. Laura convinced herself it was too far before the start of the race but was happy to compete anyway and by the last leg of the race she was overtaking people, finishing in 138th in 21.55. Now she knows she can run that far and with a little bit of self belief there will be no stopping her next season.

Last up the under 15 boys. After putting out a team at most event we were a bit thin on the ground with the under 15s with just Kieran and Jack competing.Kieran ran a great race across this tough course and finished in a fantastic 16th position in a time of 15.56. Jack still struggling with a pulled hamstring put in a fantastic effort to finish in 45th in 16.33.

Judging by the photos that were taken on the day you all look like you put every ounce of effort in to this race

Well done to all the Juniors I have really enjoyed cheering you all on.
