Track and Field round-up

Northern Veterans League – Cleckheaton 10/04/13

Pete Steel (M35) made his 2013 track debut with a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 1500m (4.40.9) and 3000m (9.49.6).

On the infield Hazel Barker got her outdoor season underway in the W50 shot, finishing 2nd with a pretty decent 9.46m.

Also in the field Steve Linsell (M45) nudged his hammer pb up to 26.60m and was close to his best in the shot, with an outdoor best of 9.10m.

2013 European Veterans Indoor medallist Tony Bowman (M75), made his outdoor debut with 15.7s in the 100m and 33.3s over the 200m.

 

Liverpool Harriers Tom O’Mahoney Memorial Open Meeting 13/4/13

Gemma Keir ran her first race of the year, finishing 8th in a mixed 800m with 2.23.3.

 

West Yorkshire League – York 13/4/13

Both ends of the club’s range of age groups were in evidence at the first of these meetings at a windy Huntingdon Stadium.

U11 Magnus Cameron made his outdoor debut, finishing just outside his best in the 600m with 2.23.03.

Caitlin Reynolds and Matthew Hambling made their competitive debuts for the club in the U13 age group, Caitlin placing 2nd in the 80m with 13.15s and Matthew running 3.17.54 in the 800m and making the club rankings list in the discus with a throw of 10.24m.

Moving up into the U13s this season, Poppy Cooke ran the 800m for the first time, finishing 3rd in 2.43.16  and high jumped 1.05m, a little down on her best of 1.15m.

Onto the vets now and after a good showing in the week with the shot, Steve Linsell got hold of one and improved his pb to 9.57m, finishing 2nd.

Also in the field, Hazel Barker had a best putt of 8.21m with the 4kg shot and threw the 600g javelin 17.26m.

Tony Bowman took on the same two sprints as mid-week and with a helpful wind ran significantly faster, clocking 14.94s for the 100m and  32.31s for the 200m.

 

Kingston Upon Hull Spring Open Meeting – Costello Park 14/4/13

U15 Rebecca Lister was close to her best in the jumps, clearing 1.20m in the high jump and 4.09m in the long jump. In the 100m, she was half a second down on her recent best with 15.04s.

Reece Davison was just a tenth off his pb in the U17 200m, finishing 3rd with 24.51s and also ran the 400m, placing 4th in 55.70s.

Elsewhere in the field, Jacob Fincham-Dukes (U17) made his 2013 outdoor debut in the long jump with a 2nd place 6.15m and Ben Mitchell was 3rd in the U17 shot with 6.94m, a little down on his competitive debut at Wakefield.

 

Wigan Harriers Spring Open Meeting – Robin Park 14/4/13

Steve Linsell was in action again, recording his 2nd best ever distance of 9.34m in the shot and making a first attempt of the season at the javelin with a disappointing 28.01m
