Track & Field Round-up Feb 5th 2012

South Yorkshire Series – Sheffield (EIS) 22nd Jan 2012

Lewis Renton knocked half a second off his pb for the 200m, set at the last one of these events, finishing 5th in the U15 event with 25.9s.

U15 Jessica Mullaney took on the 60m, LJ & Shot, recording 9.9s, 3.15m & 5.52m respectively. 

 

Wakefield Open – Thornes Park Indoor track, 26th Jan 2012

Tony Bowman opened his account for the season with 8.1s for 50m and 9.5s for 50m hurdles, the latter, just 0.1s outside his own M75 club record.  

 

London U20/Snr Games – Lee Valley, 29th Jan 2012

Tom Wagner cleared 3.55m in the pole vault, a little down on his 3.80m at the same meeting in 2011.

 

McCain Indoor City Challenge – EIS Sheffield, 4th Feb 2012

Kadeena Cox, representing the Sheffield Flames, moved up to 7th place on the Senior Womens all time triple list, breaking 11m for the first time with a jump of 11.04m in 7th place.

Jenny Lumley (Newcastle Angels) was just 1cm down on her season’s best in the high jump, finishing 7th with a 1.70m clearance.

In the combined events challenge, Katy Marchant (Sheffield Flames) equalled her pb and club record in the 60m hurdles with 8.73s, registered one valid effort in the long jump with a very handy 5.27m and after two fouls in the shot, got a safe one in with 10.87m, well below her best, but under the circumstances very decent.

Her combined score for the three events of 2188 was good enough for 3rd place against top opposition, winner Katerina Johnson-Thompson, breaking the UK U20 womens long jump record with 6.39m.

 

Northern Masters Open inc. BMAF Pentathlon Championships – EIS Sheffield, 5th Feb 2012

Hazel Barker was just short of 10m in the W50 shot with 9.94m for 2nd place and won the high jump with a 1.30m clearance.

Tony Bowman  won the M75 Pentathlon, improving three of his club records in the process and setting an inaugural one for the Pentathlon in this age-group with his score of 3496.

In the 60m hurdles, Tony took 3 hundredths of a second off his club record with 10.74s, long jumped 3.66m and added 11cm to his shot record with 7.80m.

Another record went in the high jump, where Tony added 5cm (a lot in high jump terms) with a 1.21m clearance and rounded off a successful day with 5.08.13 for the 1000m.

 

Aberdeen Open graded – Aberdeen 5th Feb 2012

Marie Dobson dropped down in distance from her early season outing, taking on two mixed 60m races and finishing 1st and 3rd, both in 8.3s, just a 10th of a second outside her pb.
