UK Womens League Div 3 Match 1 – Kingston 5th June 2011

With a talented trio of multi-eventers missing due to championships, the ladies did pretty well finishing 7th and with said trio back in the team, should be competitive in this league.

Kadeena Cox sprinted well, posting a season’s best in the A string 100m of 12.67s in 5th and placing 4th in the A 200m with 26.08s.
In the B 100m, Pole vaulter Anna Spence was 6th in 14.70s and in the B 200m, Joanne Westerman was 8th in 30.34s.
New recruit Marie Dobson duplicated her time from the previous weekend in the 400m hurdles, claiming 2nd in the A string with 65.5s and ran 61.67s for 8th in the A 400m flat.
In the B, Sheryl Punter ran a season’s best 59.73s in 2nd place and revised her 800m pb yet again, knocking a second and a half off her run at the Yorkshire’s and finishing 4th in the A with 2.18.70.
Rachael Dyson ran 2.26.28 in the B 800m, placing 4th and ran a season’s best 4.57.41 in the B 1500m finishing 3rd.
In the A string 1500m, another new face, Katy Parry, ran a pb 4.46.67 to claim 3rd place.
Emily Birchall and Jennie Guard ran the 3000m, Emily finishing 5th in the A race with 10.40.69 and Jennie, running close to her best in the B race in 2nd place with 10.49.30.
In the field, Kadeena Cox and Joanne Westerman were on long jump duty, both placing 6th with 4.46m and 3.83m respectively.
The hammer was a big event for Leeds, Alice Simpson and Adanna Okeahialam taking maximum points, Alice with 48.13m and Adanna with 46.70m.
Joanne partnered Stacey Evenden in the discus, throwing 16.76m for 8th in the A and Stacey placing 6th in the B with a season’s best 15.24m.
Alice finished well up in the A shot with 10.94m and 4th place, Stacey being a little down on her best with 5.58m in 8th.
In the javelin, Stacey was 8th in the A with 17.42m and Sheryl chipped in with 10.21m for 7th in the B.
Anna Spence was 4th in the A pole vault with 2.70m adding 5cm to her pb and another 20cm to her club record !
In the relays, Leeds were 6th in the 4x100m in 53.99s and 5th in the 4x400m with 4.11.20 which just makes it onto the all time list.
