Wakefield Spring Open Meeting – Thornes Park 10th Apr 2011

19/04/2011 – Steve Linsell
It was like a throwback to Temple Newsam track in the seventies, with crowds sat on the grass banks enjoying the sun. I can’t remember seeing such an attendance at an open meeting for a long, long time, obviously the weather helped, but it was great to see.

In her first try at 75m hurdles, Caoimhe Crampton showed everyone else how to do it, winning in a time of 12.23s, to place just shy of the Power of Ten top 10. She also set a pb in the shot, adding almost half a metre to her previous best, with a putt of 7.51m which placed her 5th.
Just behind Caoimhe in the shot, was Nicola Sawyer with a putt of 7.30m. She also high jumped 1.30m for 4th place and ran 2.46.07 in the 800m.
