West Yorkshire Cross country league- Nunroyd Park 9th October- Juniors

It was a grey day at Nunroyd Park but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the athletes who turned out. First off on the day were the under 15 girls.  Gemma Keir had a great race, up near the front for the entire race and finally finishing in 5th place in a time of 14.49. Completing the turn out for the under 15 girls was Laura Benson who had a great run, finishing in 26th place in 17.27 an excellent effort for Laura’s first year in this age group.

Next were the under 15 boys, a full team in this age group!! First home was Dominic Owens – glad to be back on the grass I think! A great run finishing in 3rd place in a time of 14.55. Closely followed by Kieran Savage in 4th place in 15.02- not bad considering the boys did an extra bit on their detour! They were followed up closely by Jack Allison, who worked hard throughput the race, in 6th place in 15.07. The final member of the team was Ben Tootle, a new comer to the cross country event and still feeling groggy from his illness last week put in a brilliant effort to come in 23rd in 17.20. Ben worked hard picking people off from the back and every one of those places counted towards the team total. An outstanding run by all four boys gave the team first place!

And last but not least for the juniors, the under 17s. Only one runner in this age group, Daniel Harrison. The rain was coming down by this point but Daniel put in a solid effort and even managed a sprint finish at the end, just being piped at the post into 27th place in a time of 19.51.

A good effort by all who came – looking forward to the next one!
