Grace Plater knocked 4 tenths off her pb in the U11 girls 75m, finishing 4th in 12.01s and also improved her long jump best to 3.68m in winning the event. These were both excellent performances by Grace, considering the large number of competitors in this age-group.
In the U15 girls 200m, Molly Yearby posted her first time for the distance with a 31.65s run, placing 6th in her heat. Nicola Sawyer ran an outdoor best for the season in the U15 girls 800m, stopping the clock at 2.43.41. Consistently over 20m in the discus this season, Nicola threw a solid 20.35m, good enough for 2nd place in the event. Georgia Yearby was in fine form in the U17 women’s 200m, taking 2nd place in a new best of 26.73s and winning the 800m in a season’s best 2.26.56.
In heat 2, Ellie Dooley beat her previous best 800m time with a 2.50.71 run in 5th place. Chloe Harley made her season’s debut with a 31.90s run in the 200m, finishing in 6th place and in the 800m a 2.47.47 run was good enough for 4th.
Jack Allison & Ben Tootle made astounding improvements to their previous bests for the 800m, both reducing their times by around 7 seconds with 2.15.95 & 2.16.08 in 2nd & 3rd places respectively in heat 1 of the U15 boys races. In 4th place, John Hubball wasn’t far off his best, with a 2.16.49 clocking. In heat 2, running his first race for the club, Joseph Plater finished 4th with 2.32.21 and in 8th, Jack Gape improved his only other previous 800m time by a staggering 10.7 seconds, with 2.45.01. In a good evening for Jack, he also added over a metre to his previous best in the shot with an 8.91m putt.
In the mens 200m, second claim member Jamie Phillips was close to his best with a 22.12s winning run.
The mens long jump provided season’s bests for Matt Barton (6.79m) & Tom Lindsay (6.03) in 1st & 2nd places. Tom also took on the 800m for the first time, finishing in 6th with a 2.21.22 run. Multi-European Veterans Champion, Tony Bowman ran an outdoor best for the season with 31.24s in the 200m.
