Young Athletes League Under 15 girls – Wakefield 8th May 2011

The team consisted of 8 athletes doing a variety of events 3 girls managed AAA standard in events Caiomhe Crampton a first year u15 75Hurdles 11.8 grade 1 and a PB finishing 1st , 200m 27.89 grade 4 a run she has tried for the first time, she also threw the shot 7.75m also a PB and ran the last leg of the relay with the team coming in second. Melissa Fletcher 75Hurdles 12.23 grade 2 and a PB, high jump 1.40 grade 4 an outdoor Pb, Mel also threw the discus for the first time finishing 3rd with a throw 15.83 and ran the first leg of the relay. Jemma Ibbetson a first year u15 and also a new competitor to the competition ran the 800m finishing 5th, long jump 3.72 an outdoor PB as Jemma has never competed outside and threw the shot 5.45m. Molly Yearby younger sister to one of our U17 girls competed very nervously for the first time doing the 100m 14.59, 200m 30.63 and the second leg of the relay. Sian Gilmartin competed in the long jump 3.35 which I know she will be slightly disappointed with as it is a metre down on her best ran the100m 14.07 which is a Pb and had a valiant try at the high jump just failing to score, but ran a good bend for the 3rd leg of the relay. Gemma Keir doing what Gemma does best ran the 1500m in a time of 4.52.46 a Pb and just a second of the english schools qualifying time also threw the javelin for the first time in along time and achieved a PB 16.71. Vikki Adams despite an injury came out and did the pole vault all that was asked one jump to get the points and did just that 1.70m achieving 2nd place. Nicola Sawyer competed despite waking with the dreaded sickness bug ran the 800m coming in 4th, threw the discus for a grade 3 and pb 22.86m from a standing throw finishing 1st here’s hoping we can get the turn going and hopefully thowing a lot further, also threw the javelin 19.56m another athlete who was disappointed with a performance as she said she can do better always another day.
